koch rajbanshi culture and traditions Some information of koch Rajbanshi and their residence Koch Rajbanshi are the indigenous peoples recognized by the Nepal's Government, habitating in Jhapa, sunsari and morang district of Nepal.Rajbanshi means Royal family or a part of the royal people. They believe to be offspring of royal family who ruled eastern part of Nepal in the past history. Rajbanshi are also known as koche or Koch or kooch bihari. Rajbanshi are found mainly in Jhapa, Morang, and Sunsari district in nepal. Their place of origin is the settlement area of Koch in Bihar, Bengal and Asam of India and also Bangladesh. According to historian of koch ,Koch state was spread from Jhapa ,Morang and sunsari to Assam statee of Indiaa. But after some times, Jhapa, Morang and sunsari were part Nepal and Asam was in India .dut to this there was full stop the political journey of Koch peoples.Koch then started changing of their identity into Rajbanshi. But the largest settlement of Koches with their name Rajbanshi is in Nepal only. According to latest national Census of nepal the population of Rajbanshi is 115,252. Rajbanshi have their own language /mother tongue, customs, rituals ,tradition and lifestyle and they are rich in folklore, literature,dances, arts ,culture and language. Koch Rajbanshi Language:- Rajbanshi have their own language / mother tongue which is known as Rajbanshi Language,.This language is spoken as many as 260,000 peoples apart from Rajbanshi, other communities living in Jhapa, and Morang such as Doom, Gangai, Musalman,tajpuriya, dhimal,mushar,hadi and so forth.It is one of the easiest language to learn.most people living in rajbanshi community uses it as language of communication.
